The military doesn’t want gay men or lesbians serving in the armed forces but they are actively recruiting convicted felons. Rape, manslaughter, arson, kidnapping on your record? No problem. Just don’t be queer. The number of reports of physical violence and abuse by soldiers returning from duty is alarming. What do we think we are doing sending people who are already disturbed over there?

On the campaign trail in North Carolina last week, Hillary Clinton said last night’s primaries could be a ‘game changer’. They weren’t. After his loss in the Pennsylvania, Barack Obama called Indiana’s primary a ‘tie-breaker.’ It wasn’t. Instead Clinton won Indiana, Barack Obama won North Carolina. So today we yet again have another split decision and I’m starting to feel like Bill Murray’s character in the film Groundhog’s Day.

In a week when he should have been focused on getting his campaign back on track ahead of Tuesday’s primaries in Indiana and North Carolina, Barack Obama'scampaign was once again driven to distraction on the campaign trail. Recent polls show Sen. Hillary Clinton gaining on him in North Carolina, Indiana and on a national level. But does all of this mean that the tide is turning against Barack Obama? Maybe. Maybe not.

CNN contributor Roland S. Martin finally went too far in his gyrations to leap to Barack Obama’s aid. In dueling comments about the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright made less than 24 hours apart, Martin contradicted himself and his months of commentary on the Wright controversy and wound up looking absurdly partisan and, of course, patently hypocritical.
As the courts of the nation struggle to define marriage in a legal sense, devoid of its religiousness, the nation's politicians are not required to follow the same path. In fact, the majority of American politicians have publicly stated that marriage is a state that is, in their interpretation, to be entered into between a man and a woman. Where then, does this leave same sex couples?

Breaking news folks: Chad White got a puppy. To the folks at CNN, this might be good for three seconds of eye candy before moving on to their next email. But to Alek Tomovic and Steph Marquete, the sexy couple behind OhLaLaMag, this is the sort of stuff that keeps the lights on. Sexy mean holding a pup? Stop the presses!

Offering up a political cocktail composed of one part history, one part organization and one part camp appeal, Hillary Clinton has managed to keep LGBT voters intoxicated with her candidacy throughout one of the most grueling campaigns in recent memory. Gays love a camp figure, and as Hillary approaches the national convention, we can almost hear her now: 'Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night!'

The Garden State is fast becoming the most LGBT-friendly state in the country. With a statewide non-discrimination bill, a hate crimes bill and a civil union bill already in place, and three more pieces of significant legislation passed this year, including an anti-bullying bill requiring schools to actively address harassment, New Jersey's lavender-tinted star is on the rise.

Are you worrying about how to stay valuable to your current employer and how to avoid the unemployment line? If your idea of safeguarding your career consists of putting your head down and working as hard as you can, you need a wake-up call.

Human rights activist Peter Tatchell says most of the world is still living in the homophobic dark ages, but LGBT movements are defiant and making gains. Despite rampant violence and murder against the LGBT community in places like Jamaica and much of the Middle East, countries like the Philippines and Russia are making great strides... but it's only the beginning.

Because in a recent CNN interview he decried the Clinton campaign's negative campaign tactics in the Pennsylvania primary as divisive and unhealthy for the Democratic Party, then went on to attack Hillary Clinton in a negative and divisive tone in the same interview, Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico is the hypocrite of the week.

Hillary Clinton once said it was 'no longer acceptable to discuss women's rights as separate from human rights.' For generations, women like Ann Richards and Nancy Pelosi have struggled to change the world, only to field criticism, intolerance and resistance. Still, pioneers have braved the murky waters and forged a path for others to follow.

With her decisive victory over Barack Obama in Pennsylvania last night, Hillary Clinton added another paragraph to the most compelling narrative her campaign can hope to write in its efforts to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. It is simply titled, 'Barack Obama’s Big Problem with Big States and Working Class Voters.'

It’s been an interminable wait, but this morning Pennsylvania voters have finally started to make their way to the polls. It’s been six weeks since the last presidential primary—a lifetime in politics—and enough time to have 'Bittergate' play itself out for all the world to see. And as we all focused on Barack Obama, nobody stepped in and solved problems like Iraq, the economy, oil prices and health care.

Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton. It is a political race where it takes millions to have any impact on the candidate. Ironically, as we fight bitterly in the community about which to support, neither one is any good when it comes to LGBT issues. Let’s stop spending our energy on that race. What about throwing our effort behind races where we can really make a difference? Like Ron Marlett, the man poised to overtake our friend Sally Kern.

Like many Americans, I only finished doing my taxes over this weekend. Between state and federal forms, the document came to a full fifty-four pages. For gay couples, tax code can be daunting. But, shockingly, there are a few things we can do to help. For starters: Make George Bush’s tax cuts permanent. OK, take a deep breath: Pretend I did not mention 'he who shall not be named.'

The political landscape is littered with events and scandals that could easily be considered ‘what were they thinking’ moments. Few could be categorized as more boneheaded than Hillary Clinton strategist Mark Penn’s recent imbroglio with the Columbian government which found him marketing his services to help promote passage of the very Colombia Free Trade Agreement that his boss so adamantly and publicly opposes.
